Craniopathy

Craniopathy (also referred to as cranial work) is a gentle, hands-on approach that supports neurological regulation by working with subtle tension patterns in the skull, spine, and nervous system.

This technique focuses on helping release stored stress and strain that can accumulate in the cranial system over time - often through injury, emotional stress, postural patterns, or prolonged nervous system activation. Because the skull houses and protects the brain and many key neurological structures, even small restrictions here can influence sleep, mood, sensory processing, and overall regulation.

Cranial work is non-forceful and deeply calming. It supports the body’s innate ability to settle, reorganise, and restore balance, particularly when the nervous system feels overloaded or stuck in survival mode.

This approach is often integrated when symptoms involve heightened sensitivity, difficulty relaxing, or long-standing tension patterns that don’t fully resolve through structural work alone.

People often explore Craniopathy when experiencing:

  • Headaches or facial tension

  • Jaw issues or teeth clenching

  • Anxiety or nervous system hypervigilance

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Sensory overload

  • Brain fog or mental fatigue

  • Emotional holding patterns

  • A persistent sense of tension in the head or neck

  • Difficulty fully settling or relaxing
